While the rest of the country is figuring how to look good while bundled up against fiercely frigid weather, we have it easy here in the land of sunshine. In fact, we welcome winter and fall with the joy and sense of wild relief that others welcome spring: as a much-awaited breath of relief from summer’s heavy heat and humidity.
With our mild – and somewhat unpredictable – fall and winter climate, we can have fun with layering, light sweaters, and removable accessories, all with a nod to the latest trends in the fashion world. The key is adaptability, as any day that starts off crisp and chilly can have you wanting to peel off anything possible by 2pm – then shivering again come evening.
Here are some trends coming down the international runway this year that work particularly well in our climes, paired with some of our creations that we think make a lovely combo.
Warm in White
Who says we have to stop wearing white after Labor Day? Forget the severe black wardrobe of winters of old, especially down here where the sun is shining and all is still lush and green! Fashion experts have now declared the “No White” rule null and void, freeing you to find your flair with ensembles suggestive of those wintry flakes that, thankfully, rarely fall from our beloved Florida sky.
Be sure to offset that white with a glimmer of our natural macrame designs.
All that Glitters…
Whether your thing is the festive glint of Christmas, New Year’s fireworks or twinkling wintry night stars, you’ll enjoy these two new trends: tinsel/glitter and metal detail. These showed up on the runway in abundance–metal woven into knits, tinsel edges, and studs.
We think that a few of our natural handmade jewelry pieces are right in time for this latest wave in subtle glam, but with a perfect dose of earthy, natural style.
Not into the bulk that knits or too many layers can bring? Bodysuits have picked up steam lately, and present an entirely new realm of possibility. Sleek and cozy, a mid-or long-sleeved bodysuit grants you the perfect tuck, so you can buzz from work to home to evening affairs confident that nothing’s budged. The simplicity of bodysuits also makes accessorizing a treat and leaves your wrists open for bracelets and bangles.
Try something from our “Bungalow” collection to compliment your bodysuit.
Long Live Leggings
Thought leggings were a thing of the past? Think again! These babies have made a comeback and are perfect for the Florida winter. Paired with one of your favorite shorter knit dresses, a long sweater or light, breezy turtleneck, leggings give you protection from our mild bouts of chill while not leaving you overheated if that crisp early morning turns into a scorcher by midday. Also, don’t be afraid to pair leggings with something sophisticated.
We think our “Captiva” Knotted Stone creation works beautifully with this trend – a little fun, but classy with that natural handmade feel to keep you grounded.
We hope you make the most of the Fall fashion trends on into winter, and we know that our handmade jewelry makes the perfect accessory for any trend.
